Picturesque Villages, bustling market towns, a special atmosphere
and timelessness. Of course you will want to enjoy the woodland
walks and there is something for everyone in the Forest.
- Drive past the docks leaving Southampton
behind, first stop is Eling to see the UK's only working
productive Tide Mill.
- On through the Forest to stunning
Beaulieu for the Abbey and Palace House, spies trained
here once.
- Learn about Commoners and their
ancient rights over Europe's largest surviving area of
ancient pasture woodland.
- Discover hidden airfields used in
the War, then on to Brockenhurst to drive through the
Ford - known locally as The Splash!
- Venture along the Rhinefield Drive
and for tales of witches and spells the village of Burley
and the Rufus Stone.
- Finally Lyndhurst, home of the Court
of Verderers for shopping and more, New Forest Museum
and tea rooms galore.
Another half day tour which may not
be long enough once you have sampled the delights of Beaulieu
or had a glimpse of the New Forest ponies.
Some lunch in a quaint English pub,
a drink by the river, you decide, we drive. Go for the day
to include Buckler's Hard where ships for Nelson's fleet
were built.
